The Ogawa family is a famous old Japanese family. It is said that Sesshu built this garden for them when he visited in the middle of the Muromachi era (1336-1573). He was a very famous and talented charcoal-ink painter and produced many masterpieces.
This garden’s style includes nature such as mountains, rivers, and ponds. It was made for looking at, not walking around in. You can enjoy a different view each time from the placement of the stone.
This is actually a privately owned garden, only open through the courtesy of the present members of the Ogawa family. If you ask to visit, they will introduce the main features. The garden is about 363 square meters in area.
